Period Positive Workplace Coalition Spotlight: Egal, Pads on a Roll
Egal, Pads on a Roll is at the forefront of menstrual product innovation. Their mission? Make menstrual products as accessible as toilet paper by placing them right where they are needed: in the bathroom stall.
In 2021, Egal was founded in response to the growing need for free and easily accessible period products in public spaces. They created the concept of “pads on a roll’” identical to toilet paper rolls. The rolls dispense 40 individually wrapped disposable pads and are placed right next to toilet paper dispensers in bathroom stalls, where they are needed most.

Egal now provides rolls to numerous schools, libraries, airports, and businesses around the United States and is increasing its global presence. According to Jennifer Severns, Egal’s Vice President of Growth, aligning with the Period Positive Workplace (PPW) initiative is a logical move for Egal. “[Because] menstruation is an issue that affects 51% of the population, I think becoming a certified PPW is an easy way for companies and legislators to show they care about [people who menstruate].”
Egal became a PPW Coalition Partner in May 2024. Now, they are officially a member of the PPW’s Steering Committee and are focused on promoting the PPW initiative through both broad and localized strategies. They accomplish the larger strategy by conversing with companies and industry leaders about the importance of providing menstrual products for their employees and customers and discussing the benefits of adopting PPW practices. Egal also engages with local leaders and governments to implement product accessibility and prioritize menstrual equity.
Even with the social stigma and barriers that still surround menstruation, Jennifer and Egal believe the private sector has a role to play in making a meaningful contribution to the push toward menstrual equity.
“Having an initial conversation is a step in the right direction,” advised Jennifer. “Even baby steps are still progress.”
