Menstrual Hygiene Day Across the World

The theme for Menstrual Hygiene (MH) Day on May 28th was, “It’s Time for Action!” And action is what Days for Girls volunteers, Global Offices, and Enterprises delivered. We had an explosion of MH activities all over the world!

Our MH activities were as diverse as the countries in which we work. Events were held from Nepal to South Africa, helping to raise awareness and shatter the stigma around menstruation. Other activities included: an art exhibition displaying pictures about menstruation drawn by young girls in Nepal, an MH festival with games that focused on MH education in Guatemala, a viewing of the Oscar award winning documentary, Period. End of Sentence, in Ghana, and we sat on a menstrual health panel for an MH conference in Uganda. In addition, DfG Global Advocacy Director, Diana Nelson, presented to the Department of Women and many Stakeholders the need for washable standards in South Africa.

Each of these important events helped amplify that Every Girl. Everywhere. Period. Matters!
