Global Washington Philanthropy Guide

Days for Girls is proud to be featured in Seattle Foundation and Global Philanthropy’s sixth-annual Global Philanthropy Guide!
Each year, the Global Philanthropy Guide shines a light on Washington-based organizations making an impact in low- and middle-income countries. The 2021 Guide focuses on those making strides in the fight against gender-based violence: an insidious problem that has skyrocketed during COVID-19.

Days for Girls works to eliminate gender-based violence by tackling period poverty, advocating for menstruator rights and uplifting women and girls around the world. We are thrilled to be recognized for our efforts! Most exciting of all: the guide includes an inspiring interview with our Chief Programs Officer Vicki Carew, who shares how DfG is breaking the downward spiral of period poverty with another type of spiral – one with an upward trajectory.

She also shares her personal story as a menstruator growing up in Sierra Leone, why this work resonates so deeply with her, and the importance of a holistic approach to menstrual equity (which means involving men and boys!).
