Giving Tuesday: Empowering Girls in Uganda with Menstrual Health

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.

Days for Girls is excited to announce that we will be participating in GlobalGiving’s Move a Million Campaign again this year! (Thanks to your help, last year we finished #10 out of thousands of nonprofits and secured a $15,000 match!)

This 24-hour campaign is 12am – 11:59am EST, Tuesday, November 28. All donations up to $2,500 are eligible for a portion of the one million dollar matching prize depending on our final fundraising totals. That means your gift, no matter the size, will be boosted!

Let’s raise $35,000 in one day and give the gift of freedom to women and girls in Uganda!

This year on #GivingTuesday, DfG is raising dollars to continue our menstrual equity work in Uganda.

In Uganda, the vast majority of women and girls use homemade alternatives to manage their menstruation and lack access to proper menstrual health education. As a result, 70% of adolescent girls in Uganda cite menstruation as a major hindrance to their optimal performance at school.

An innovative solution has proven to be key: sustainable menstrual health girls can count on.

Your support of this project provides high quality, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable, washable menstrual pad Kits (DfG Kits) that are locally produced along with comprehensive, timely and age-appropriate menstrual health education to women and girls, as well as men and boys – who are key allies for change. In order to create lasting change, DfG Uganda also conducts advocacy to local and national leaders to improve menstrual health policies and programs for sustainable, long-term impact.

The more donations we get, the higher we will go on the leaderboard and the more we will win from the one million dollar matching prize!
