Fostering Female Leadership In Eswatini

Days for Girls loves collaborating with local organizations that uplift and invest in the next generation of women leaders!
That’s why we were so thrilled to partner with Gone Rural Bomake – Swaziland this International Women’s Day. Together, we launched the Emblii Leadership Program: an inaugural leadership program for girls in rural Eswatini (formerly Swaziland).
The three-day program aims to promote gender equity by facilitating academic and entrepreneurial leadership for girls – many of whom have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and lockdowns (with 261 recorded teenage pregnancies within the three months of lockdown alone).
Over #IWD2021 weekend, twenty girls selected for the program attended career mentorship and human rights advocacy workshops, family planning/sexual and reproductive health seminars (featuring DFG guest speakers!), academic tutoring sessions and more. A small group also received business development training and startup capital for their emerging enterprise: a sustainable cosmetics operation that will make soaps for DfG Kits!
We’re so excited to see this program help underserved girls cultivate their power and take flight year after year – and prove to the world what we have always known: that the future lies with strong female leaders.
