During her eight years as Executive Director of Canadian Baptist Women of Ontario and Quebec she learned a lot about the opportunities to support and the responsibilities to encourage and equip girls & women, wherever they live, despite their personal circumstances, including poverty, lack of education and even human trafficking. After her retirement, Sharon, the Lethbridge team leader (her sister) encouraged her to consider starting a DfG team in her area. The very first DfG video she watched on the website was Celeste’s TED talk. When she shared that some girls have been coerced into having sex with their male teachers in order to get pads, her heart pinged! Brenda wanted to be a part of a movement that enabled girls to live freely and to their full potential. Since 2015 she’s been honoured to help lead the Ennismore ON Team. Attending the last four DfG conferences have been very inspiring and she’s honoured now to serve on the board.
